For touring, and longer distance riding rim brakes are fine

I got about 3,500 miles out of my Kool Stop brake pads.

They started to 'squeak' with every braking.  After about two weeks of rim cleaning and trying to adjust angle of toe in to try and get rid of the noise, I just replaced them.

Problem solved.

The wear lines where mostly gone on both front and rear.

It is nice not hearing the high pitched sound !

My thoughts:

With the Long Haul Trucker E-Bike conversion, my original concern was with how rim brakes would function.  Now with about 3,500 miles since the conversion, and going through a set of Kool Stop brake pads, I feel that for the riding done on the Long Haul Trucker, the rim brakes have been no issue.  The pedal assist helps 'flatten out hills' but not really increasing the top end speed that would need more powerful brakes.
